Job Synopsis

The Accounting Assistant works within MCC's Financial Services department, assisting the Accounting Associate’s management of accounts payable for MCC U.S. and some regions.  The ability to respond to routine inquiries clearly and promptly is important. Much of the job will involve working on a computer. The period from July-August is the peak workload period. This means there will be a limited possibility for taking extended vacation days during this period.

Essential:  
High School Diploma.
1-3 years experience with data entry in accounting software.
3-5 years clerical experience.
Other essentials are experience using Excel, Word, Outlook.
Effective Communication skills. 
Ability to manage high volume transaction processing.

Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).

Preferred: Associates Degree in Accounting or another related field. 2+ years experience in finance or accounts payable.

Position scope duties and Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable 75%, Administrative 25%. 

Specific tasks and duties: Process invoices via digital approval workflow and enter payables for MCC U.S. and regions to accounting system.
Prepare related checks and ACH transfers on a timely basis.
Pay invoices via credit card and/or direct withdrawal as needed.
Maintain recurring payables files, including set up of incoming and outgoing participants in young adult programs.
Upload check list to positive pay platform.
Maintain accounts payable email account, responding quickly to staff questions related to invoices and payables.
Upload and track invoices through digital document management system.
Scan any paper invoices received. 
Track and order office supplies.
Scan and track SRM donation listings.
Assist with coverage of the receptionist desk in Akron and/or office committees as needed.
Collect, scan and process all non-donation cash/check receivables, including payments for employee repayments, WP lodging receivables, insurance repayments, etc.
Prepare, document, and deliver the weekly deposit to the bank. Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis. 
Travel expectations: One week or less for annual FS retreat.

Physical activity/demands: This position occasionally has light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds; remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time regularly; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers regularly; regularly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.

Salary Details

Base salary: $19.73. Starting salary may be adjusted up to $21.92 based on previous experience.
