Job Summary
Job Title: Assistant Dean for Extension Health Partnerships
The Assistant Dean for Extension Health Partnerships is a senior level administrator who will provide organizational and trans-disciplinary leadership for synergizing health partnerships within Cooperative Extension. This full-time role will be responsible for strategic, financial, and functional pathways to build and sustain partnerships with on-campus departments/units, external institutions, government entities and private/public sector organizations to engage with University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension resources to positively impact the health of Kentuckians. The Assistant Dean provides Health partnerships administrative leadership in all areas of Cooperative Extension operations, external partner development, and development of financial resources (grant and philanthropic). The Assistant Dean will collaborate with Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment One Health Center personnel to build partnerships and ensure cohesive programming across Extension programs.
The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Associate Dean for Extension for management and supervision. Additionally, the position will be a member of the Extension administrative team and collaborate closely with Assistant Directors (program leaders) and Regional Extension Directors (field staff administration) to build a sustainable, strong, and visionary trans-disciplinary impactful health programs at local levels.
This position will evolve to include supervisory responsibilities, depending on future department needs and organizational growth. The Assistant Dean will be expected to develop and manage a team of staff members.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Successful candidates will have:
- Doctorate or Terminal degree in medical school, nursing, public health, nutrition, or other related health discipline.
- Five years of work experience related to the responsibilities of this position.
- Proven ability to maintain and develop successful relationships with partners across disciplines and geographies.
- Demonstrated experience in programming and research related to health and well-being topics such as health or nutrition.
- Proven ability to manage and develop strategic initiatives.
- Significant successful supervisory experience including managing others, hiring, and training staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from various cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Education/Experience
- More than five years of supervisory experience involving multiple, full-time direct reports.
- Working knowledge of Cooperative Extension and land-grant institutions.
- Established record of building trans-disciplinary partnerships to support local health programs.
- Proven ability to attract extramural funding.
