Full Time

As a full-time enterprise application developer, you will work in accordance with the university’s software development lifecycle to design and develop both new software applications and enhancements to existing software applications that meet business specifications. You will help plan the continuous evolution of in-house, web-based solutions; assist in leading the development, testing, and implementation of these solutions; and help determine design methodologies and tool sets for new application development. You will also support all IT-related university initiatives.

Among other duties, you will define technical solution objectives through analysis of user requirements, as well as system features and functionality, and will serve as the enterprise applications development expert on project teams. You will write test plans and perform or oversee functional testing for relevant upgrades, support all IS software updates, and provide second-tier support for application and report issues. As needed, you will also mentor and train new members of your team.

The successful candidate is an excellent written and verbal communicator and can easily develop positive, collaborative relationships with users at all levels. Strong time management, analytical, conceptual, and technical skills are a must for this position, and the candidate should be able to quickly master new technologies as needed. Self-motivated and organized, the candidate should be able to manage multiple projects concurrently and serve as team member on cross-functional projects. The candidate should have experience working with application and database integrations and must deliver a high level of customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in computer science, information systems, or closely related discipline
  • Candidates must have Experience with server side development using Java, SQL, and overall front end web development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related professional experience in a higher education setting which used Banner, Blackboard, and uPortal
  • Experience with: Groovy/Grails, Linux, Apache Tomcat, Spring, Hudson/Jenkins.

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
