They support our members through training, funding, policy advocacy, and resources to amplify the impact of their programs and services. Working together, their network can effect real change. Our client’s Network members invest in their communities by building affordable housing, addressing gentrification, supporting small business growth, and providing financial counseling on issues including credit building and homeownership. They aim to strengthen the economy by advancing economic mobility in Latino communities.

Your Role:

As the Assistant Controller, you will support the organization's financial management, ensure financial statements are prepared according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders, donors, and investors. 

To thrive, you should have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or CGMA preferred) with expertise in nonprofit accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in nonprofit financial management.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP specific to nonprofits and proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct).
  • Strong analytical and project management skills with 3+ years of experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial processes.

Your key responsibilities and duties as the Assistant Controller will include:

  • Prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
  • Ensure compliance with grant agreements, donor restrictions, and applicable laws, including federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with organizational budgets, cash forecasts, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Generate financial reports for stakeholders such as donors and government agencies.
  • Identify and manage improvements to accounting systems and processes, including automation and digitization efforts.
