Charter Bus Driver
UIW Mission
Position Summary
The Charter Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating a gas or diesel bus on routes for the University, observing all state and city speed and safety regulations. Position is also responsible for providing excellent customer service to passengers and following safety policies of the University. Position reports to Vehicle Services Manager.

Job Duties
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must possess strong customer service skills.
- Ability to drive for the authorized period of time as outlined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation.
- Must be knowledgeable with the Hours of Service (Log Book) requirements.
- Ability to successfully pass required DOT physical.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of charter but driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) to five (5) years of charter bus driving experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- CDL Class A or B License with P & S Endorsements.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with the ability to be insured through UIW’s vehicle insurance carrier.
- Must be at least 21 years of age with excellent driving record, as verified through state Motor Vehicle department
Work Hours
Mon through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional extended hours based on needs of the department and assigned trips.
Physical Demands
Must have physical strength adequate to maneuver the bus and assist passengers.
