Job Summary

The Work Study Intern will assist the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) by providing crucial support to new clients during the startup phase. This role focuses on client on-boarding, training coordination, and follow-up, ensuring that clients are well-equipped to move forward with their business planning and development.

Job Duties

  • Client On-boarding:
    • Send a welcome package to new clients, including essential business planning tools and resources.
    • Ensure all materials are up-to-date and tailored to client needs.
  • Training Coordination:
    • Assist clients in identifying relevant training opportunities, including self-paced VOD courses.
    • Register clients for training sessions and provide necessary follow-up information.
  • Client Follow-up:
    • Conduct regular follow-up with clients to confirm business progress.
    • Encourage client participation in TSBDC surveys and gather feedback on services provided.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a registered student of Southwest Tennessee Community College.
  • Only students who are approved for Federal Work Study are qualified for this position.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Interest in small business development and entrepreneurship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Business or Legal Studies.

Hours & Compensation

  • Part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) during the academic year.
  • Compensation in accordance with Federal Work Study guidelines
