Job Description:

Fidelity Investments is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Software Engineering to join our team within Fidelity Health organization. As a Chapter Leader, in an agile structure, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of versatile engineers, drive technical strategy and delivery, and make a significant impact on our technology landscape. We are looking for an exceptional technical leader with strong engineering focus and passion for building complex systems in the cloud, who can work across multiple teams and influence different business and technology partners. Role will also involve growing a strong engineering team that could challenge the status quo and build next generation applications aimed at providing outstanding service to Fidelity Health Clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of dedicated engineers, drive technical strategy and delivery, and make a significant impact on our technology landscape
  • Develop and implement the technical strategy and roadmap to meet business objectives and drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement new technologies and processes
  • Collaborate with technology and product SMEs to architect/design robust, scalable solutions to complex business problems
  • Drive best practices for software development, including coding standards, testing, and deployment processes
  • Ensure timely and successful delivery of projects by setting clear goals and priorities for the team
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements and design
  • Manage and prioritize resources to ensure efficient and effective use of team members' skills and time
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to leadership and collaborators
  • Monitor and analyze team performance metrics and take action to improve productivity and quality
  • Regularly provide guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
  • Identify and plan for future resource needs and hire, retain and develop an impactful team
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the engineering team
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
  • Know the latest with industry trends and advancements in software engineering to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Full Stack Engineering (or closely related occupation) designing, implementing, and supporting complex business systems.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ('DE') performing systems analysis, and designing, implementing, and supporting systems using Azure Services, Angular (JS), RESTful APIs, JavaScript, Spring MVC, Java, GIT, Jenkins, and uDeploy.
  • DE performing priority production incident analysis, review, and resolution for software installation and monitoring functionalities to ensure specifications are met, using Splunk, Datadog, or Service Now tools.
  • DE delivering, measuring, and iterating features to customers while minimizing risk, using practices (A/B tests, blue-green deployments, and feature toggles), DevOps Continuous

Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Behavioral-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated security and quality testing, modern test and mock frameworks, and service virtualization tools; and performing secure application development.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with improving time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).

Reminder: Per the Dynamic Working Guidelines, approved exceptions will be reviewed annually, or when the associate accepts a new role, whichever comes first.
