Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is currently hiring a Full Time Nutrition Care Team Leader. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

Responsible for communications between the nursing units and Dining Services regarding resident menus, diet changes, and general resident services. Develops menu tallies for food production. Must react accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficient timing of services and accuracy of physician’s ordered modified diets. Must be familiar with dietary restrictions on modified diets to ensure optimal resident care and satisfaction. Responsible, with direction of the Nutrition Care Supervisor and/or Nutrition Care Manager, for the supervision of Nutrition Care Partners (NCPs) during their duty shifts. Must be able to make decisions independently regarding staffing and resident satisfaction issues. 

  • Ensures that all residents receive excellent dining service with attention to detail by walking the service areas, observing and directing staff, while still performing their job duties at the highest level.
  • Provides ad hoc training to new hires or NCPs in need of additional attention.
  • Conducts and records Lenz, temperature control, ppm, and tray accuracy audits in Lighthouse kitchens to ensure Regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates daily “Showtime” meetings utilizing training and customer service goals. Writes and presents Conversation Confirmers to NCPs as needed.
  • Provides input and partners with Supervisor on presenting annual appraisals.
  • Will inform/partner with Supervisor on writing formal documentation when NCP is in violation of department standards / shows trends of poor habits.
  • Performs as acting Supervisor during Supervisor’s days off or Paid-Time-Off.
  • Fills in as Nutrition Care Partner as scheduled.
  • Conducts audits during meal service to monitor staff compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines. 
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as assigned. Completes month-end inventory. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all therapeutic diets and the proper food/condiments served with each diet. Demonstrates knowledge of proper food portioning of all items for residents. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and sanitation with regard to food temperatures, hand washing techniques, use of gloves and dating of food items.  Accurately identifies standard temperatures for refrigerated food storage. Demonstrates knowledge of proper chemical usage and MSDS. 
  • Follows prescribed work assignments daily, maintaining proper time frames and completing all required duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • High school diploma required. ServSafe Certification required. 
  • Experience in the healthcare environment is desirable, but not required.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) preferred, but not required. 
  • Microsoft and Google applications - computer skills required. 
  • Ability to use simple math concepts. 
  • Strong communication and comprehension skills required. 
  • Ability to give and receive verbal communication on a continuous basis. 
  • Ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruptions. 
  • Ability to remember multiple tasks/assignments over long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to interact with residents and staff congenially. 
  • Ability to get along well with others and demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events designated by Westminster Canterbury.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds or more. Must be able to push and pull carts/objects. 
  • Must be able to stand up to 8 hours consecutively.  Must be capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around work area. 
  • Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, blood, body tissue/fluids and other hazardous materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment including stovetop, oven, waffle iron, griddle, Panini, milkshake machine, blenders, can openers, knives, etc.
