1. GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION

Position Name: Outreach Specialist

Classification: non-exempt, benefitted

FTE: Full-time

Work Hours: 8:00-4:30 PT

Department/Division: Admissions

Supervisor: Director of Outreach and Partnerships

Location: Onsite or hybrid

2. POSITION SUMMARY

The Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in promoting UWS programs and engaging with prospective students and the community. This position requires a proactive individual with strong communication and organizational skills, responsible for executing outreach initiatives that attract and support diverse candidates. The Outreach Specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the school’s visibility and foster meaningful relationships within the educational and professional communities.The primary focus of this position will be in the Pacific Northwest, with travel to other parts of the country as needed. The position may also work with international prospective students, particularly in the Canadian market.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Outreach Initiatives:Serve as the first point of contact to Implement outreach strategies to connect with prospective students through, college fairs, community events, on campus events, and online platforms.The primary recruiting region would be the Pacific Northwest with other potential domestic travel.
  • Engagement Activities: Organize and conduct information sessions, workshops, and webinars to inform potential applicants about graduate programs, application processes, and financial aid opportunities.Refer to admissions counselors as necessary.
  • Relationship Building:Establish and maintain relationships with local educational institutions, community organizations, and industry partners to promote the graduate school’s offerings and create recruitment opportunities.Collaborate with academic leadership at UWS to form potential articulation agreements.
  • Content Development:  Collaborate with marketing team to effectively communicate program benefits and success stories to prospective students, including the use of communication plans, social media, and electronic formats.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Track and analyze outreach efforts and engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and inform future strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, current students, Global Engagement, and alumni to gather testimonials and insights that can enhance outreach initiatives.
  • Support for Prospective Students: Provide personalized support to prospective students throughout the application process, addressing inquiries and offering guidance on program selection.Requires extensive knowledge of UWS programs.
  • Event Support:Assist in the planning and execution of UWS recruiting events, including open houses, campus tours, and networking events.

5. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in outreach, recruitment, or community engagement, preferably in higher education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and marketing tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in graduate education.
