Job Summary

WKCTC is a comprehensive community college that provides excellence in teaching a learning, promotes student success, and supports economic development.

This position is part-time and grant funded. The Adult Education Specialist I position within the Adult Education department to provide academic instruction to inmates at local correctional facilities or in the Adult Education Center.

Job Duties:

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, and GED test preparation
• Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the regular use of computers and other educational and emerging technologies
• Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and math instructional strategies
• Provides continuous, data-driven feedback to students and adjusts instruction to optimize student learning outcomes
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and evaluate curriculum and other instructional materials
• Integrates work, family, and community-related activities into instruction
• Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests when necessary
• Ensures instruction is aligned to diagnostic test
• Applies adult education principles and methods in the classroom
• Maintains knowledge of program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Participates in professional development

Minimum Qualifications:

A successful candidate must possess the following:
• Bachelor's Degree in education or a content-related field
• Ability to meet the minimum requirements of either the TABE 11/12 or GED Ready test in reading and math
• Must have a flexible schedule
