LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.
LSC-Online, the newest LSC campus, features dedicated instructors and offers courses for students who are enrolling in a 100% fully online program. The LSC-Online Campus is an independent campus led by the Executive Vice Chancellor/ CEO, Online Campus. LSC-Online will provide a guaranteed schedule so that students can complete the programs in a two-year period if they so desire.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under general/limited supervision this position is responsible for significant function. This position acts a primary expert and provides advice and information to others. Ensures that all district policies/practices surrounding function are implemented/carried out correctly by others. Primarily performs specialized, specific functions requiring knowledge and experience in a particular field, area or department function. Typical duties may include information gathering and review, presentation of information in verbal or written form, some interpretation of information. At a higher level, also provides advice and counsel in area of expertise such as academic advising, financial aid, and student records.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Represents the college at elementary, middle/intermediate, and high school visits, career, health, community, and corporate fairs, apartment tenants, businesses in order to familiarize prospective students with assessment, evaluation, admission and registration process
- Assists manager with coordination of on campus and off campus recruitment / retention focused events
- Collaborates with campus resources to seek new information about the college to promote academic and co-curricular programs to prospective students
- Assists in prospective student follow-up appointments and tracks students through the prospective student database system
- Assists with testing vouchers and testing processes
- Identifies and refers students with special needs to appropriate departments, specialized programs, and student success initiatives
- Gives campus tours and creates relevant presentations about college information
- Disperses information by various methods, which may include telephone calls, chats, emails, information tables, and various public speaking engagements
- Actively seeks new sources of recruitment and builds community partnerships within the service areas
- Participates in various outreach events, committees, and initiatives on behalf of the college and department, assigned by department director
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to lift and carry at least 10-20 pounds to handle recruiting materials and setup for events.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse clientele in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to gain knowledge of the rules and procedures of the college.
- Ability to maintain good positive relationship with the public, students, faculty, and staff
- Proficiency with common office software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to organize functions to ensure compliance with due dates/deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to coach and transfer knowledge.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
Hourly Pay Rate is $14.55.
