PRODUCTION MANAGER

Job Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Production Manager is a key member of the management staff, who is responsible to develop short and long-term operational plans, policies, programs, operating procedures and objectives.
The manager maintains close surveillance over daily manufacturing operations through reports, staff meetings, observation and personal contact to assure integration of workflow, timely production, budgetary conformance and utilization of staffing resources and equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Act as a liaison between co-workers and management team to keep people informed on matters of communication, decisions and policies
- Ensure all quality and process procedures are followed at all levels in the production department
- Ensure timely internal response to operational issues impacting customer expectations and project cycle time performance
- Assist and advise others to resolve problems and implement permanent corrective action
- Delegate responsibilities, provide guidance/direction to direct reports and co-workers
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and improve quality
- Coordinate production with purchasing, shipping logistics, and project management
- Administer or assist in coordination of various programs such as, ISO 9001-2010, cost reduction, facility security, staffing and hourly wage administration
- Emphasize importance of and monitor compliance to appropriate safety policies and procedures
- Ensure all plant productivity, quality and safety goals are achieved
- Provides oversight of the calibration schedules for production equipment
- Prepares reporting and is accountable for the WIP reconciliation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of prior operational management experience in manufacturing
- Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of manufacturing systems and a good working knowledge of processes and products
- Formal electronics training via military or trade school preferred
- Organized with a resourceful approach toward collaborative solutions when implementing improvements and corrective actions
- Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Understanding of quality principles and techniques
- Advanced teambuilding / people management skills, strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to calculate production job costs and monitor appropriate manufacturing times
- Able to provide guidance, direction, goals, feedback, discipline and delegate authority
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to make quick decisions
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Experience with an ERP system (EPICOR) highly preferred
- Knowledge of safety practices and a demonstrated commitment to maintain them
- ESD Awareness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
- Duties will require the ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs
- Must have the ability to obtain security clearance
- Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening and background check
Location: Onsite in Sparks, MD with a 9/80 schedule. Every other Friday OFF.
