Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality Inspection Technician to work in our Construction Quality department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our ATR facility with every Friday off.
You will perform technical quality control (QC) tasks to support the mission of the facility in which one is working (including materials, fabricated items, components, equipment, parts) Use technical skills to conduct in-service tests and surveillance activities, to ensure compliance to customer, engineering, quality standards, and regulatory requirements for the given item being evaluated. You will report to the manager of Construction Quality.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide technical support to quality engineering on various experiments, operate a variety of inspection equipment.
- Provide independent quality assurance inspection and surveillance functions in compliance with policies, procedures, customer requirements, or work control plans at INL and subcontractor facilities.
- Ensure items are within calibration and suitability for use of the measurement equipment being used.
- Provide support in various administrative functions such as non-conformance reporting, tracking, trending, assessments, and records management.
- Review materials and equipment received or fabricated against purchase/design specifications to ensure acceptability.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 4: High School or equivalent and 6 years related experience.
- Level 5: High school or equivalent and >6 years related experience.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following building code disciplines: Plumbing, HVAC, Civil Inspection including earthwork, concrete, and asphalt; AWS Structural; and ASME Mechanical.
- Knowledge and skills in Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques such as Visual Inspection, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, etc.
- Objective evidence of previous NDE qualification/certification including NDE certification, Training Diplomas, Experience Logs and Education (HS, University etc.) meeting SNT-TC-1A is required.
- Must be capable of using NDE techniques to solve complex inspection problems.
- Must display a working knowledge of inspection codes and standards.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Experience:
- Plumbing Inspection Experience.
- HVAC Inspection Experience.
- NDE inspection experience on commercial construction sites.
- Civil Inspection experience in earthwork, concrete and asphalt.
- AWS CWI certification.
- ASME Owners Inspector Experience.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 4 min $29.46 - max $48.61 / Level 5 min $34.47 - max $56.87. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
