The Opportunity

  • Provide legal advice and recommendations for initiatives and projects developed in response to client’s strategic objectives and business needs. The focus of work is on projects with broad department and/or organizational impact and moderate to high level of risk.
  • Advise on employment, other personnel, and benefits related matters.  
  • Work as a strategic partner with senior leaders.  Although the attorney manages work independently, they must also work effectively in a team environment.
  • Oversee internal investigations as well as prelitigation and litigation matters.
  • Monitor, manage, and review all work and expenditures for outside counsel to ensure quality and efficacy of legal services.
  • Provide timely, practical, and expert legal advice and business counsel while ensuring compliance with legal requirements, minimizing enterprise risk, and protecting the organization’s reputation.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Juris Doctor degree and licensed attorney required.
  • 8+ years of significant employment law experience, including primary and independent responsibility for significant transactions and litigation required.
  • A member in good standing with the California or other State Bar required.
  • 7-10 years of significant experience providing advice on employment and other personnel matters and managing litigation preferred.
  • Experience as an attorney in a mid-to-large size law firm or large corporate legal department preferred.
  • Effective leadership and management skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts into terms readily understood by members of the Board of Directors, senior management, and other personnel.
  • Interest and ability to adapt to changing needs and learn new areas of law.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to manage internal and outside resources.
  • Practical decision maker who integrates quickly into Partnership and corporate cultures.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

We are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $165,650 - $215,345, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual corporate Success Sharing bonus program, which is based on the company’s annual performance. If you are hired at Vituity, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
