The Business Strategy team sits within the Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.) organization and is responsible for driving thought leadership and supporting strategic decision-making. The MS – U.S. organization seeks to drive welcomed acceptance across all businesses in the United States by providing products and services that allow them to prosper. The MS – U.S. organization, which consists of 10M+ merchants, falls within Global Merchant Services organization, which acquires and maintains relationships with millions of merchants around the world that welcome the American Express card.

The Business Strategy team operates as an internal consulting team, supporting senior leadership across MS – U.S.. All work is project based, including a mix of short- and long-term projects. The team works on high impact projects that are tied to senior leadership’s most pressing business objectives. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Help secure cross-functional and executive-level buy-in for key initiatives to aid in driving them forward.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across product, sales, legal, marketing, and others to deliver on strategic initiatives, ensuring successful implementation as intended.
  • Identify opportunities for increment and new revenue growth, looking both internally and externally for ideas, topics, and trends.
  • Develop perspective and paths forward for new ideas, topics, and trends by building comprehensive business cases that balance opportunity and operational feasibility.
  • Act as a change agent within MS – U.S. and beyond by encouraging innovation and being courageous in challenging the status quo.

Qualifications:

  • Strategic, big-picture problem solver with strong business acumen and high degree of creativity. 
  • Resourceful self-starter who thrives in ambiguity. Ability to create structured outputs from white space questions. 
  • Excellent communicator and storyteller with the ability to understand the audience, structure effective presentations, and lead stakeholder conversations.
  • Proven relationship-builder with strong consultative and collaborative skills to partner with business leaders to devise solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Strong project management skills with consistent record of successfully getting results on complex, large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Expertise in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience working with data and ability to clearly articulate the “so what” a plus
  • MBA and/or Management Consulting experience a plus.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
