Pay Range
$126,500.00-$173,900.00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The purpose of the Technical Superintendent’s role is to lead and support the process engineering functions of the plant and support the maintenance functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective production operations of the facility. The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvements in efficiency, quality, environmental stewardship, safety practices, and reduction in manufacturing costs and to execute projects to take advantage of those opportunities.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Lead a team of process and technical professionals, act as the technical expert in the areas of maintenance, engineering, process improvement and process control. Ensure business priorities and objectives are met
- Advise and influence plant management on modifications to systems, procedures and equipment that will improve process control, product characteristics and overall process efficiency without sacrificing product quality
- Ensure statistical data systems are in place to trend and alert for deviations of all critical control variables
- Lead the process and maintenance teams in identifying critical control variables
- Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operations and/or processes
- Lead troubleshooting and RCCA efforts for systemic issues
- Develop training for troubleshooting of electrical control systems
- Align plant improvement plans with divisional plans to ensure like technologies
- Train Maintenance and Production technical resources as needed
- Support execution of capital projects, Furnace rebuilds, etc.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvement in efficiency, costs, environmental stewardship and safety
- Participate in meetings/calls to share technical and process improvement information between plants/facilities
- Work with Innovation and Commercialization team and Process Technology organization for all new product development initiatives including design or experimental projects.
- Mentor Engineers and Technical staff
- Be familiar with new processes, process equipment, process control equipment and inspection and test methods
- Establish, manage, and update training programs associated with process control and process operations
- Train operations/maintenance personnel on Statistical Process Control (SPC) using control charts and examples of processes
- Ensure that all safety procedures are followed
- Support and assist in development of Maintenance apprenticeship program
- Advise and influence plant management/engineering staff on control systems maintenance (e.g., upgrades, documentation of changes, etc.)
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, ceramic) with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a continuous production environment and 5 years managing diverse employees in technical backgrounds
- Bachelor's degree in engineering in Electrical Engineering with solid knowledge of Allen Bradley and Honeywell systems strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills

- Strong critical process thinking skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Proven ability to identify and lead process and cost improvement initiatives
- Keppner-Tregoe or equal, etc.
- Proven knowledge and success with a continuous improvement process discipline such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing,
- Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems preferred
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
