L.L. Bean is offering temporary full-time positions for Class A Truck Drivers located in our Order Fulfillment Center in Freeport, Maine. The job involves working Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  If you prefer shorter, local routes instead of long-haul overnights, this job is for you. Position Purpose: In this important role you willoperate tractor trailer truck in accordance with established safety procedures. Drives tractor trailer truck combination to transport and deliver goods to and from designated locations to include all L.L. Bean warehouse facilities as well as Retail and Outlet Stores in Maine.  Performs deliveries, pick ups, loading and unloading of trailers.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates tractor trailer truck in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Drives tractor-trailer truck between company warehouse locations, taking responsibility for security of goods in transit and ensuring that trailer is properly sealed.
  • Performs pre and post trip inspections of vehicles and trailers. Checks operating condition of truck daily; maintains clean and orderly condition to comply with state regulations and company rules.
  • Attends semi-annual safety update training courses.
  • Identifies and assesses any potentially hazardous working conditions including, but not limited to, weather conditions and traffic congestion.
  • Always utilizes defensive driving techniques.
  • Assesses and communicates delivery and pick up priorities to affected locations and Trucking Coordinator.
  • Maintains logs and records according to regulations as required.
  • Performs deliveries, pick-ups, loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Submits to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Employees in this position must agree that they will not come to work or be at work at any time under the influence of alcohol or any drug that could render them impaired.


Education Level: High School or GED
Years of Experience: 1+

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have a CDL Class "A" license.
  • Must have a PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) license for operating L.L. Bean power equipment.
  • Three years Class A driving experience preferred.
  • Safety training courses specific to transportation and logistics preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must have skills for dealing with both internal and external customers.
