Temporary, Corporate Communications Manager

We are currently seeking a Temporary, Corporate Communications Manager to join our team.  This position contributes to Corporate Communication's vision to "influence actions and beliefs through exceptional communications that inspire, inform and create meaningful connections." This position is responsible for developing and executing communications plans with clear objectives and a deep understanding of audiences as part of Insperity's strategic partnership with Workday. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures strategic communications plans are developed in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Works closely with department leadership, senior marketing managers, content owners, and subject matter experts to ensure the company’s messaging strategies are aligned and consistent across all projects.
  • Develops and manages internal communications channels including the company’s intranet to inform and educate employees and drive engagement and productivity. 
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with key members of the company to develop and implement communication strategies and identify stories that can amplify the culture, values, and overall employee experience.
  • Ensures communications plans are based on deep understanding of communications planning principles, audience insights, company objectives, brand voice, and editorial guidelines. 
  • Manages editorial calendar for company’s internal communications related to Workday, including emails, intranet articles, and newsletter content to ensure a consistent and timely cadence.
  • Partners with Thought Leadership and Public Relations to create alignment between external and internal messaging.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans for the marketing/communications/public relations programs and its activities, monitors progress, assures adherence, and evaluates performance.
  • Identifies and proposes systems, processes, and tools to enhance the content marketing and corporate communications effectiveness of the organization.
  • Provides strategic direction to creative team on internal and client-facing marketing communications in support of all business units, ensuring that efforts are aligned with business objectives and reflect brand attributes and the overall messaging strategy.
  • Champions an iterative approach to creative work to help ensure continuous improvement in the overall success of integrated marketing campaigns and content assets.
  • Provides proactive and routine coaching of a team of writers (in-house and contract) in a one-on-one and team environment, giving them the education and guidance, they need to develop compelling, actionable, and engaging messages that will resonate with the company’s target audiences.
  • Fact-checks, edits, and proofreads external marketing communications as needed to ensure tone, style, grammar, company information, and storytelling are accurate, engaging, and aligned to brand standards and company objectives.
  • Acts as an in-house expert on the company’s products and services in order to ensure all copy is accurate and that messaging is effective.
  • Provides insights and promotes understanding of the issues commonly encountered among decision-makers in small and middle market businesses.
  • Establishes and promotes adherence to Insperity’s writing and editing style guidelines to promote consistency in the development of communication materials.
  • Keeps abreast of marketing trends and best practices through research and professional development in order to provide recommendations to account managers, stakeholders, discipline leads, creative team members, and the leadership team.
  • Collaborates and works side-by-side with a multi-discipline team (writers, designers, developers, project managers, account managers, analysists, etc.) in an agile marketing format.
  • Participates in contexting and road mapping sessions to provide direction on content development so that the messaging created for deliverables aligns with the direction of the company’s overall objectives and messaging strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, a related communications field, or four years of related work experience is required.  Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in multichannel content creation (publishing, journalism, etc.) is required.
  • Ability to execute external and internal communications strategies that are aligned with business goals and objectives.
  • Understanding of effective internal communications tactics to drive employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing content in a variety of formats including communication plans, internal announcements, emails, e-books, guides, case studies, video scripts, press releases, presentations, newsletters, and other short-form and long-form content, communications, and marketing formats.
  • Demonstrated experience in how to tell a story using words, images, audio, and video to draw an audience. 
  • Demonstrated success in creating compelling messages for different target demographics.
  • Strong, diverse writing and editing experience (for both structure and copy) with expertise in maintaining proper voice, grammar, syntax, tone, and style.
  • Ability to think like an educator, with intuitive understanding of what the audience likely feels and needs to know, and how they want to consume it.
  • Ability to manage deadlines for specific jobs as well as ongoing campaigns and initiatives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to define business objectives and motivate/inspire creatives to structure and work toward goals that align with the company’s mission and vision.
  • A team player who is willing to engage in both strategic and tactical work as business needs dictate.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills supported by exceptional grasp of AP style.
