Director of Research & Data
National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) is a national membership organization representing 200+ nonprofits that serve diverse Latino communities in all 50 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. With offices in San Antonio, TX, and DC, we are a grant maker and US Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). We support our members through training, funding, policy advocacy, and resources to amplify the impact of their programs and services. Working together, the NALCAB network can effect real change.
Our mission is to strengthen the economy by advancing economic mobility in Latino communities. NALCAB Network members invest in their communities by building affordable housing, addressing gentrification, supporting small business growth, and providing financial counseling on credit building and homeownership issues.
Your Role:
As the Director of Research and Data, you will lead our research and data initiatives, providing actionable insights to inform program development, policy advocacy, and strategic planning. You will oversee the research initiatives, utilizing advanced methodologies to evaluate impact and trends, working closely with leadership to align analysis, and reporting of data to support our mission and enhance our impact within the Latino community.
To thrive, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years in institutional research, program evaluation, or a related field, ideally within the nonprofit sector.
- Solid analytical skills with experience in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with an ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with Latino communities preferred; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Your key responsibilities as the Director of Research & Data will include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive research agenda aligned with organizational goals, including overseeing datasets, tools, and methodologies for quality data collection and analysis.
- Conduct and oversee qualitative and quantitative research to assess program effectiveness, generate insights, and address community needs.
- Prepare and present research findings and data in accessible formats, including visualizations, for board members, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Partner with program managers, leadership, and the External Affairs team to integrate research into program design, communications, and grant proposals, ensuring data-driven impact.
- Mentor staff in data techniques and engage with community members to align research with the needs of the Latino community.
