THE ROLE

Analyst with an emphasis on seeking investment opportunities that will add value across the MFS municipal bond platform. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conduct independent research on specific issuers and sectors including issuer financial statements, rating agency reports, general sector studies, and various other sources.

  • Using this research, build and maintain financial models and develop specific issuer and sector investment recommendations for the municipal bond portfolios.

  • Write issuer investment reports synthesizing this research for distribution to other members of the municipal group and inclusion in the fixed income database.

  • Verbally communicate research and investment recommendations to the portfolio managers, traders, and other senior analysts.

  • Assist portfolio managers and traders in assessing the accuracy of bond pricing evaluations. Participate in team meetings to develop group investment strategies.

  • Performs additional duties as needed.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.  MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • Strong modeling and data management skills.

  • Analytic skills including the ability to discern detailed documents and analyze financial statements.

  • Strong writing and verbal skills including the ability to organize, interpret, and summarize large amounts of information into concise written and verbal formats.

  • Ability to work independently and handle a high workload volume.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team structure and clearly communicate opinions and relative value.
