Compensation

$41,334 - $56,970 (yearly)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Safely and effectively managing a 6:1:1 specialized classroom
  • Engage students in activities that are interesting, meaningful and individualized to reflect each student's developmental level
  • Effectively incorporating support staff into the classroom program
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") in accordance with current New York State Education and Gateway practice, procedures and policies
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education (B-2) and as a condition of future employment must be working toward, or be willing to pursue, appropriate Special Education certification in appropriate grade levels
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles
  • Ability to physically restrain if required

Preferred Qualifications
  • New York State Certification in Special Education (B-2)
