POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Advising Coordinator provides a wide range of student service duties and responsibilities within the Student Advising Division to ensure all prospective, incoming, and current students receive support in financial inquiries throughout their program. This role will collaborate closely with the Director of Student Advising to address student issues and offer solutions efficiently and effectively. This position is housed within the Student Support Team and will work directly with Student Support Counselors, Academic Advisors, Admissions, and Academic Departments to provide immediate assistance in student finance and registration issues.

This is a hybrid position with three days per week on campus.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

Recruitment/Admissions

· Assist the Director of Student Advising in relaying pertinent information to admission representatives on student budgeting, award eligibility, and finance options for prospective students in need.

· Provide guidance on financial aid and student account inquiries for students on pending financial action list. Manage hold overrides and collaborate on solutions to support student persistence.

· Attend New Student Orientation to provide real-time support to students encountering issues heading into matriculation.

Funding/Student Finance

· Assist students with a range of complex enrollment and billing issues and provide budgeting options to ensure program funding is readily available.

· Work with potential Re-entry students to review eligible financial aid packaging amounts and determine course sequencing in collaboration with academic departments.  

· Implement proactive advising strategies to identify and assist financially and/or academically at-risk students, ensuring appropriate resources and support are reviewed. 

Student Support/Advising

· Maintain a small caseload of students within their assigned college and offer a full range of advising and Student Support services.

· Assist prospective students in Student Support-related paperwork and processes.

· Advise students, faculty, and staff on university policies and procedures.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred)

· Prior experience in student finance at the university-level or Financial Aid

· Working knowledge of student advising and counseling techniques

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· The ability to display professionalism in all interactions

· Experience with building or managing effective student support initiatives

· The ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and teams and work effectively within a matrix organization

· Excellent writing, interpersonal, and technological skills, including the use of Microsoft Office

COMPENSATION: This is a full-time hourly position with a range of $26.41 - $27.18 per hour.

This opportunity is budgeted at $$25.18 to $27.18 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
