Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Graduate of an accredited, approved police academy and be a certified police officer meeting all the requirements for P.O.S.T certification in Tennessee. Meet the requirements of TCA 38-8-106 and TCA 38-8-107 Qualifications of Police Officers. Out of state applicants are required to meet Tennessee P.O.S.T certification requirements within six (6) months of hire. Prior law enforcement experience as full-time certified officer must be within the past three (3) years. Must attend and successfully complete, annually, a department authorized and P.O.S.T approved in-service training course consisting of forty (40) hours of instruction.
